With profound sadness and heavy hearts, family, friends, and members of the Montgomery, Alabama, community are mourning the heartbreaking loss of Valerie J. Granville, 65; Vensen E. Granville, 39; and Willie J. Gholston, 69, whose lives were tragically taken in a devastating head-on collision on Interstate 65 in Chilton County.
The three victims, all residents of Montgomery, were identified by Alabama State Troopers following the fatal crash that occurred Monday morning. Their sudden passing has left loved ones facing an unimaginable loss as they grieve the deaths of three members of the same family.
According to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA), the crash happened at approximately 11:03 a.m. on Interstate 65, about two miles south of Verbena. Authorities said Valerie Granville was driving a GMC Envoy when the vehicle crossed the median and collided head-on with a GMC Sierra pickup truck driven by 47-year-old Robert B. Eaton of Meridianville.
Following the initial collision, debris from the crash struck a Nissan Sentra driven by Drema Webb, 48, of Crossville, Tennessee, causing additional damage. Despite the emergency response efforts, Valerie Granville, her husband Vensen Granville, and her son Willie Gholston were all pronounced deceased at the scene.
The devastating loss has deeply affected the Granville family and the Montgomery community. Tonya Granville-Hairston, who lost her mother, brother, and stepfather in the tragic crash, shared the immense pain her family is experiencing following the sudden loss of her loved ones.
“We are devastated by this sudden loss,” she said, expressing the heartbreak of losing three important members of her family at once.
As the family begins the difficult process of saying goodbye, support has poured in from friends, relatives, and community members who are offering prayers, condolences, and assistance during this painful time. A donation effort has been established to help with the overwhelming funeral expenses associated with honoring Valerie, Vensen, and Willie.
